Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, known as the Big Beautiful Bill Act reconciliation legislation. Representative McClintock from California’s 5th district voted in favor of the measure and addressed the House floor earlier today.

Rep. McClintock highlighted potential consequences if the bill fails, stating that “an average family’s taxes will rise 22 percent next year — about $1,700 a year — the biggest tax increase in American history.” He emphasized that success would allow working families to retain more earnings and enable completion of the border wall to protect communities.

McClintock further explained that passing the bill would relieve Medicaid pressure by requiring able-bodied adults to seek work and free up America’s energy resources. He posed an important question regarding economic indicators: “Are you better off today than you were two years ago?”

Looking ahead, McClintock expressed optimism for significant growth, noting that Americans could experience one of the most explosive periods in history with secure borders, safer communities, lower taxes, abundant energy, better jobs, and an improved standard of living.
