Rep. Kevin Kiley, a Republican from California, led a debate in the House of Representatives to address and condemn recent violent riots in Los Angeles targeting ICE. The resolution condemning these events was passed by the House. It received unanimous support from Republican members and was backed by seven Democrats.
Rep. Kiley emphasized that violence against officers should not be seen through a partisan lens. “This should not be a partisan issue,” he stated during the debate. “Attacks on officers and other acts of violence are reprehensible and should be universally condemned. That is not how we settle political differences in this country.” He also expressed gratitude towards law enforcement personnel at various levels for their role in restoring order in Los Angeles and acknowledged their daily sacrifices.
