Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district and former California State Assembly member, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account in May 2026 addressing legislative developments, political issues, and allegations of corruption in state government.
On May 12, 2026, Kiley announced the passage of new federal legislation aimed at retail crime, stating: “Good news. The House just passed the Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act, a bill I co-sponsored to help bring sanity back to public safety in California through greater federal enforcement. This reinforces our landslide Prop. 36 victory making crime illegal again.”
The following day, on May 13, Kiley commented on the issue of redistricting across several states: “The gerrymandering war is about to spread to New York, New Jersey, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Louisiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. Congress must act to end this insanity.”
Later that same day he addressed allegations involving a senior official in California’s executive branch: “Governor Newsom’s chief of staff is pleading guilty on federal corruption charges. We need to change the culture of corruption in Sacramento and restore government by the people.”
Kiley has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after replacing John Garamendi and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. He was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
