Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently expressed his views on social media regarding issues in higher education and his political endeavors. Kiley, who succeeded John Garamendi in Congress and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022, addressed topics ranging from university admissions policies to political opposition.
On June 1, 2025, Kevin Kiley posted about what he perceives as “extreme discrimination in admissions” being a significant factor contributing to turmoil and anti-American sentiment within universities. He stated that “Restoring merit and excellence is the only way forward.”
Later that day, at 21:40 UTC, Kiley tweeted about his efforts against Governor Gavin Newsom. He asserted that “battling and defeating Newsom is precisely how I’m serving my constituents.” This comment reflects his ongoing political activities within California.
On June 2, 2025, Kiley further criticized universities for their role in societal issues. He claimed that these institutions have fostered negative behaviors by stating “Our universities deserve blame for this madness. They have incubated anti-Semitism, fueled lawlessness, and sympathized with terrorists.” He called for accountability from Congress and the Administration.
Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. An alumnus of Harvard University with a BA earned in 2007, he also holds a JD from Yale University.
