Rep. Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district, announced a series of legislative developments and responded to recent political statements in several posts on his official Twitter account.
On July 17, 2025, Kiley declared an end to federal funding for California’s high-speed rail project. He wrote, “We won. Federal funding for the CA High-Speed Rail catastrophe has officially been terminated.”
Later that day, Kiley shared news of House passage of a bill he sponsored regarding digital currency policy. He stated, “The House just passed a bill I sponsored to prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing a Central Bank Digital Currency. This will stop the emergence of CCP-style surveillance and control that would threaten the liberty and privacy of every American.”
On July 20, 2025, Kiley commented on remarks made by California Governor Gavin Newsom about withholding taxes from the federal government. Kiley posted, “Gavin Newsom has suggested California ‘withhold’ taxes from the federal government. This is at best nonsensical and at worst a serious felony. In reality, the State of California doesn’t pay any taxes. Our citizens do.”
Kevin Kiley has represented California’s 3rd District in Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley graduated from Harvard University with a BA and later earned his JD from Yale University.
