Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district, has made a series of statements on social media addressing the issue of gerrymandering and recent redistricting developments in California.

On November 10, 2025, Kiley responded to criticism by stating, “I’ve been called worse.”

The following day, he announced his intention to introduce new legislation regarding electoral map drawing: “It’s time to end gerrymandering for good in the United States. I’ll be introducing legislation to give every state an independent redistricting commission like the one Newsom just got rid of in California.” This statement references Governor Gavin Newsom’s decision concerning California’s redistricting commission.

Later that same day, Kiley commented on the broader political implications of recent redistricting actions: “I warned the Speaker for months that a redistricting war was (1) bad for the country, (2) unpopular with Members on both sides, and (3) likely to end as a wash. Yet he cheered it on rather than try to stop it.”

Kiley has represented California’s 3rd district in Congress since 2023 after succeeding John Garamendi. Prior to his congressional service, he served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School.
