Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has publicly raised concerns regarding the distribution of $100 million in donations by Fire Aid for Los Angeles fire victims and commented on recent political developments in California.
On July 25, 2025, Kiley posted: “I called for an investigation of how Fire Aid distributed the $100 million raised for LA fire victims. Now, a nonprofit focused on ‘civic engagement’ that received a grant has returned the money. This is the right thing to do. These funds were intended for the victims”.
The following day, July 26, he provided an update: “Update: President Trump has responded to my call for an investigation into Fire Aid, referring the matter to Attorney General Bondi. We’ve learned none of the $100 million donated went directly to LA victims, and nonprofits having nothing to do with fire relief received grants.”
On July 28, Kiley addressed speculation about California’s gubernatorial race: “I’m hearing of a frantic attempt by Democrats to keep Kamala Harris out of the Governor’s race. They fear she could open the door for Republicans given (a) Kamala’s high negatives, (b) Newsom’s unpopularity, (c) Record-low ratings for Democrats, (d) the CA GOP’s recent gains.”
Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and resides in Rocklin. He previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022 before his election to Congress. Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School.
