Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, publicly stated on social media that federal funding for the California High-Speed Rail project has been halted and reiterated his opposition to further investment in the initiative.
On July 16, 2025, Kiley posted: “At today’s Transportation hearing, I said that the CA High-Speed Rail disaster should not receive another penny of funding. It appears the President agrees.”
The following day, he continued his commentary by writing: “Considering we stopped all further federal funding for High Speed Rail – my explicit goal – I’d say it was quite a success. Also, pro tip: the formatting of the dash in your post is a dead giveaway that ChatGPT wrote it.” (July 17, 2025).
Later on July 17, Kiley added: “At the beginning of the year I introduced legislation to cut off funding for the California High-Speed Rail disaster. The Federal Railroad Administration has now made it official.
We continue to Newsom-Proof California and restore sanity to our state.”
Kevin Kiley has represented California’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
