Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has been vocal on social media about the political landscape and policies in California. A former member of the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022, Kiley has shared his views on recent developments in the state through a series of tweets.
On July 6, 2025, Kiley expressed his opinion that “California is the greatest state in the country. We just have the absolute worst politics.” He noted positive changes occurring within the state, such as making crime illegal again with significant voter support, narrowing the voter registration gap multiple times consecutively, gaining seats in the Legislature, and removing certain district attorneys.
The following day, on July 7, 2025, Kiley criticized California’s stance on gender-related sports policies. He tweeted that it was “unbelievable” that California refused to alter its policy requiring girls to compete against biological males. According to him, this decision by the Education Department contradicts federal civil rights laws and jeopardizes federal funding for the state.
On July 8, 2025, Kiley continued addressing this issue by stating that “California’s decision to defy the civil rights laws of the United States gives our state a shameful place in history.” He highlighted Governor Newsom’s acknowledgment of unfairness in forcing girls to compete with biological males but pointed out Newsom’s willingness to risk losing billions in federal funding over this matter.
Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. An alumnus of Harvard University and Yale University Law School, he brings an educational background into his legislative work.
