Kevin Kiley, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district, has been vocal on social media regarding various state policies and governance issues. Born in Sacramento in 1985, Kiley has a background in law with degrees from Harvard University and Yale University. His recent tweets reflect his stance on tax relief, gender policies in sports, and political discourse with Governor Gavin Newsom.
On July 3, 2025, Kiley announced via Twitter that “Californians will now get something long overdue: major tax relief.” He noted that this development was met with disapproval from Governor Newsom.
Later the same day, he reported receiving communication from the CIF and California Department of Education about an impending decision on gender policies in sports. He tweeted: “The CIF and CA Department of Education have notified me they’ll make a decision by Monday about no longer letting men in women’s sports.” Kiley urged them to consider the precedent set by UPenn’s recent policy change.
On July 4, Kiley challenged Governor Newsom directly via Twitter to engage in a debate over a bill’s merits. He asked: “Governor Newsom, would you like to have a one-on-one debate about the merits of the bill?” This tweet highlighted his willingness to discuss policy differences openly rather than through indirect or mediated platforms.
Kevin Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously served in the California State Assembly for six years until 2022.
