Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, posted a series of tweets on September 4, 2025, criticizing California’s economic performance and the ongoing redistricting efforts in several states.

In his first post at 18:00 UTC, Kiley stated: “California has added zero jobs this year and has the highest unemployment of any state. The national economy would be in much better shape but for Newsom.”

Later that day at 19:39 UTC, he commented on redistricting across multiple states: “The states looking to redistrict, tearing up their congressional map in the middle of the decade, now include:

Texas, California, Ohio, Missouri, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin, New York, Virginia.

This is insanity. No one wins.”

At 22:45 UTC on the same day, Kiley addressed costs associated with redistricting processes: “Less than half the cost of the $250 million Redistricting Sham. (I’m not exaggerating)”

Kiley has represented California’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin at age 38, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School.
