Kevin Kiley, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for California’s 3rd District, has used social media to express criticism of state leadership and recent legislative developments. Kiley, who succeeded John Garamendi in Congress in 2023 after serving in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022, is known for his vocal positions on state governance and education policy.
On July 14, 2025, Kiley criticized Governor Gavin Newsom’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a post he stated: “Says the Governor who dined at a 5-Michelin-star while banning Thanksgiving for the rest of us, sent his own kids to in-person private school while shutting down our public schools, and vacationed in Montana while enforcing a ban on state travel to red states.”
Later that day, on July 14, 2025, Kiley commented on California’s Independent Redistricting Commission and recent remarks by Governor Newsom regarding electoral maps. He wrote: “Californians voted to create an Independent Redistricting Commission that is now enshrined in the State Constitution. Yet Newsom is suggesting he will erase the Commission’s maps to gerrymander more seats for Democrats. This is what authoritarianism actually looks like.”
On July 15, 2025, Kiley addressed AB 84 legislation before the California legislature. He posted: “AB 84 is one of the worst bills the Supermajority has inflicted on Californians in years. Our state’s corrupt politicians are intent on keeping kids trapped in failing schools and trampling the rights of parents. This legislation must be stopped.”
Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. He holds a BA from Harvard University (2007) and a JD from Yale University.
