Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023 and former member of the California State Assembly, has recently used his social media platform to criticize state leadership and highlight issues he sees in California governance.

On September 6, 2025, Kiley posted on X: “A dog successfully voted in the 2021 Recall and continued to receive a ballot in the mail after it died. The owner was only caught after posting a photo of the dog wearing an ‘I voted’ sticker. This is Newsom’s California.”

Later that day, he commented on public safety and crime rates in major cities with another post: “Newsom and Pritzker would like us to believe nonstop carnage in our cities is simply a fact of life. The dramatically reduced crime in DC proves otherwise. That’s why it’s so threatening to them. It shows effective political leadership can restore public safety.” This tweet referenced governors Gavin Newsom of California and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois.

On September 7, 2025, Kiley criticized Governor Newsom’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic: “In November 2020 millions of Californians were out of work and forbidden to gather for Thanksgiving as the Governor failed to get them unemployment checks, but don’t worry — he was spending his time racking up a $12,000 wine bill feting a lobbyist at a 3 Michelin star restaurant.”

Kiley has represented California’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023. He previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 through 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985, Kiley resides in Rocklin and holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
