Kevin Kiley, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 3rd District since 2023, recently expressed concerns over decisions made by the California Legislature and actions in the state government, through a series of tweets.
On May 1, 2025, Kiley tweeted, “The disgrace of California’s Legislature reached a new low this week. The Supermajority came down on the side of child predators, deciding it should not be a felony to purchase 16-year-olds for sex.” Kiley’s assertion reflects his strong disapproval of the legislative body’s decision on legal matters involving minors.
In a tweet from May 2, 2025, Kiley addressed criticism from Governor Gavin Newsom, stating, “Newsom is attacking me for reversing his gas-car ban, calling my legislation the work of ‘Trump Republicans hellbent on making California smoggy again.'” The tweet continues, “This will come as a surprise to the 35 House Democrats who joined us in passing it.” Kiley pointed out the bipartisan support his legislation received despite the governor’s remarks.
Later the same day, Kiley raised concerns regarding privacy breaches in a tweet about the California Obamacare website, “California’s Obamacare website (Covered CA) used a special tracker to capture users’ personal health information and sent it to LinkedIn for a ‘marketing campaign.’ I’ve asked Secretary Robert F. Kennedy to investigate this massive breach of privacy for HIPAA violations.” Kiley called for an investigation by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy into the potential violations of health privacy regulations.
Kevin Kiley’s professional background includes serving in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022 before his current tenure in the U.S. Congress. He was born in 1985 in Sacramento and resides in Rocklin. Kiley graduated from Harvard University in 2007 and subsequently earned a JD from Yale University.
