Rep. Kevin Kiley, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently voiced his concerns on several issues through social media. His tweets have addressed controversial state policies and federal budget negotiations.
On July 7, 2025, Rep. Kiley expressed disapproval over California’s decision to maintain its policy allowing girls to compete against biological males in sports, despite opposition from the federal Office of Civil Rights. He described the state’s stance as “reckless, shameful, and illegal.” “California just announced it is refusing to change its policy of forcing girls to compete against biological males, defying the federal Office of Civil Rights.”
The following day, on July 8, 2025, Rep. Kiley highlighted his efforts during recent budget negotiations to protect public lands from being sold off. He stated that his advocacy led to the removal of a provision for public land sales from both House and Senate versions of a funding bill. “I fought hard to make sure public lands were not touched in the recent budget negotiations.”
On July 9, 2025, he reiterated his criticism towards Governor Gavin Newsom and other state leaders for not reversing their policy regarding sports competitions involving biological males and females. He warned that this could lead to significant repercussions under Title IX regulations. “We knew this would happen.”
Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. A Harvard University graduate with a BA earned in 2007 and a JD from Yale University, he served in the California State Assembly before joining Congress.
