Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has used his social media platform to voice criticism of Congress and California’s redistricting process in a series of recent posts.

On October 2, 2025, Kiley wrote: “Government shutdowns are a total institutional failure. Our most basic job is to fund the government that Americans are paying for. It’s no wonder the approval rating of Congress is at 20 percent.”

Later the same day, he commented on changes to his congressional district’s boundaries: “Newsom’s rigged map draws the Third District in an absurd elephant shape. This latest scheme to oust me will fail just like all his other attempts. No on 50.”

In another post dated October 3, 2025, Kiley criticized budgetary procedures in Congress: “Congress needs to learn how to pass a budget on time. We are still operating under a Biden-era spending deal 9 months into the Trump Administration.

Going from one ‘continuing resolution’ to the next is what creates the constant risk of a shutdown.”

Kiley succeeded John Garamendi as representative for California’s 3rd district in 2023 after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2016 through 2022. He was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School.
