Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently used his social media platform to address concerns about public safety in California, federal budget negotiations, and redistricting efforts involving Governor Gavin Newsom.

On September 29, 2025, Kiley referenced a recent survey on crime concerns in the state: “A new State of Safety in America survey finds 72 percent of Californians are highly concerned about violent crime happening to them – the most of any state. But don’t worry, Newsom is spending $282 million on an ’emergency’ gerrymander. That will solve everything.”

The following day, as a government shutdown loomed due to stalled budget talks in Congress, Kiley commented on the situation: “Congress has failed to pass any sort of budget for 18 months. The government shuts down at midnight tonight and the House isn’t even in session. There’s more focus on who’s to blame for a shutdown than on avoiding one. This is why Americans are so frustrated with Washington.”

Later that same day, Kiley addressed what he described as political targeting by Governor Newsom: “Gavin Newsom is tired of losing to us so he’s made me the Number 1 target of his Redistricting Sham. Today is our major End-of-Quarter Deadline. I need your help at the link below to fight back, beat Newsom, and continue to Make California Sane Again.”

Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously represented constituents in the California State Assembly from 2016 until 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
