Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legal and societal issues. A graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School, Kiley has previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022.
On June 20, 2025, Kiley commented on a recent legal decision involving Governor Gavin Newsom. He stated that “Gavin Newsom just lost his lawsuit to remove the National Guard from LA.” The Ninth Circuit Court’s unanimous decision included a ruling against Newsom by a judge appointed by President Biden. Kiley criticized the lawsuit as an “insult to our National Guard Members and a waste of taxpayer money.”
Later that day, Kiley addressed concerns about technology use among young people. He noted that “American teenagers are spending 8.5 hours on their phones every day.” As Chair of the K-12 Education Subcommittee, he held a hearing focused on limiting screen time in schools.
On June 21, 2025, Kiley further criticized Governor Newsom’s actions during the Los Angeles riots. He described “Newsom’s unanimous defeat in court” as indicative of his poor handling of the situation. Kiley also mentioned Newsom’s policies on immigration enforcement and sanctuary cities as contributing factors to his critique.
Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin.
