Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023 and a former member of the California State Assembly, has recently criticized Governor Gavin Newsom through a series of posts on social media.

On August 1, 2025, Kiley wrote, “Gavin Newsom is furious that we keep beating him. Our latest win is cutting his High-Speed Rail funding. He’s now asking a court to restore the funding so he can spend $130 billion on a project that won’t be finished this century. This is the definition of insanity.”

The following day, August 2, Kiley posted another message regarding state budget priorities: “A quick reminder that Newsom slashed funding for foster kids a month ago and now wants to spend $200 million to gerrymander congressional districts.”

On August 3, Kiley accused Newsom of political maneuvering related to congressional representation: “Last year Newsom tried to oust me from Congress by sending his own staff member to run against me. That failed emphatically. So now he’s trying to import more Democrat voters into my district with an illegal map redraw. This too will fail.”

Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. He holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School. Before joining Congress, he served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022.
