Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has taken to social media to express his concerns regarding Governor Gavin Newsom’s actions and policies. Kiley, who succeeded John Garamendi in Congress and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022, has been vocal about issues he perceives as problematic under Newsom’s administration.

On June 8, 2025, Kiley called for an “immediate investigation into Governor Newsom’s attempt to commit, aid, or abet felony tax evasion,” stating that “his stunts have crossed the line from idiocy to criminality.” The tweet can be accessed here.

The following day, on June 9, Kiley posted a brief statement: “This is Newsom’s California.” This comment was made without further elaboration but can be viewed here.

Later on June 9, Kiley criticized both Governor Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass for their handling of law enforcement and immigration policies. He asserted that they have “let dangerous criminals into the country and out of jails,” implemented “obstructive sanctuary policies,” used “incendiary rhetoric,” and funded “radical groups.” His full remarks are available here.

Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. He graduated from Harvard University with a BA in 2007 and later earned his JD from Yale University.
