Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has used his social media platform to criticize Governor Gavin Newsom over recent political developments in California.

On August 28, 2025, Kiley posted a statement accusing the governor of misconduct regarding redistricting efforts. He wrote, “Here it is. As predicted, Newsom has resorted to outright election fraud to pass his Redistricting Sham. The official ballot language contains numerous lies:

-The ‘changes’ to the map are not ‘temporary.’ They last until the next Census when another map is required.

-They are”.

Later that day, Kiley referenced past political contests and legislative battles with Newsom. On August 28, 2025, he stated: “Newsom tried to oust me last year with his own staffer running against me. He failed. He tried to stop us from reversing his gas-car ban, cutting off his High-Speed Rail funds, and passing Prop. 36. He failed.

Now he’s targeting me with his Redisticting Sham. He’ll fail again.”

In a subsequent post on August 28, 2025, Kiley addressed crime rates in California under Newsom’s administration: “Newsom now admits crime is out of control in our cities. In two terms as Governor he’s released countless criminals early and signed numerous bills lowering penalties. Political grandstanding – not the safety of Californians – is his one and only priority.”

Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
