Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district, has used his social media platform to criticize Governor Gavin Newsom and the state’s redistricting process, as well as comment on ongoing legal and political controversies in Sacramento.

On November 15, 2025, Kiley alleged that Governor Newsom bypassed established procedures for redistricting: “Our Citizens Redistricting Commission was required to follow the Constitution and Voting Rights Act in a public process. Newsom skipped all of that in the rush to ram his gerrymandered map through. That’s why he’s facing a lawsuit in federal court.”

The following day, November 16, 2025, Kiley addressed what he described as a persistent issue of corruption within state government: “I’ve warned of the ‘culture of corruption’ in Sacramento, personified by Newsom. Here is the press secretary for Jerry Brown and Dianne Feinstein using those exact words as he calls Newsom’s indicted chief of staff a ‘mafia boss.’ This is what Newsom wants to take national.”

On November 17, 2025, Kiley commented on a legal challenge related to Proposition 50: “I just read DOJ’s complaint challenging Prop. 50 as unconstitutional. Honestly, it’s stronger than I expected. I’m still proceeding on the assumption that the new map will be used next year, but I’ll be watching the Dec. 3 court hearing with some interest.”

Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in California’s 3rd district in 2023 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
