Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023 and a former member of the California State Assembly, posted a series of tweets on September 26, 2025, criticizing Governor Gavin Newsom and raising concerns about California’s electoral processes.

In his first post at 03:23 UTC, Kiley stated: “California leads the nation in homelessness, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, and outmigration. But now, after 7 years as Governor, Newsom has found the solution to all our problems: Gerrymandering.

No on 50.”

Later that day at 16:51 UTC, he expressed doubts about the integrity of California’s voter rolls: “California’s voter rolls are a mess and it’s about time we had accountability. A dog voted in a recent election and kept getting a ballot after it died. Since ballots are mailed to the whole voter file, we have no idea how many are sent to people (or animals) who aren’t eligible.”

At 20:58 UTC on the same day, Kiley commented on party dynamics in California under Governor Newsom: “Under Newsom, Democrats continue to lose voters with Republicans and Independents on the rise. This is why the Redistricting Sham is happening now. We’re winning, he’s losing, and he needs to cheat to change the trajectory.”

Kiley has been active in state and federal politics for several years. He previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 until his election to Congress in 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD). His comments come amid ongoing debates over redistricting efforts and election administration practices in California.
