Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently posted several critiques of Governor Gavin Newsom and announced an investigation into the FireAid concert funds.

On August 27, 2025, Kiley commented on Governor Newsom’s response to former President Trump’s suggestion to deploy the National Guard in San Francisco. He wrote, “Newsom is outraged President Trump would suggest using the National Guard in San Francisco. Yet Newsom himself sent the Guard to San Francisco two years ago, saying ‘we cannot let rampant crime continue.’ Of course, he did let rampant crime continue.”

Later that day, Kiley criticized Newsom’s record as governor in another post: “Newsom’s presidential platform: vote for the guy whose state leads the nation in homelessness, unemployment, poverty, gas prices, illiteracy, retail crime, and outbound U-Haul rentals. The Redistricting Sham is an attempt to distract from his disastrous record.”

On August 28, 2025, Kiley shifted focus to transparency issues surrounding charitable fundraising: “We are finally about to get answers as to where the $100 million from the FireAid concert went. As part of our Judiciary Committee investigation, we’ve given FireAid a deadline of next Tuesday for a list of all expenditures and grant recipients.”

Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously represented constituents in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin at age 38, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School.
