Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently posted a series of statements on social media criticizing Governor Gavin Newsom’s actions regarding redistricting and nonprofit fund allocations.

On August 18, 2025, Kiley alleged interference by the governor in his district: “Newsom sent his staff member to run against me and lost by 46,000 votes. So now he’s come up with an ‘Elephant Map’ for my district, where the ‘trunk’ collects new Democrat voters. The Governor is as desperate as he is corrupt.”

Later that day, Kiley addressed proposed state spending: “Newsom wants to spend $250 million in taxpayer dollars to confuse Californians into doing something they overwhelmingly oppose. Two-thirds of voters are against his Redistricting Sham. My bill in Congress will stop Newsom’s scheme and spare our taxpayers.”

On August 19, 2025, Kiley provided an update on oversight efforts related to disaster relief funds: “Chair Jim Jordan and I have given FireAid a deadline of September 2 for a detailed breakdown of all nonprofits that received funds, including the amount, date, and purpose of each expenditure. We’ve also made clear that the remaining $25 million must go to victims.”

Kiley succeeded John Garamendi in Congress after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
