Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently posted a series of critical tweets addressing political leadership and government agencies in California.
On April 15, 2026, Kiley commented on public dissatisfaction with Congress, stating: “One reason Congress has an 11 percent approval rating is too many politicians think one set of rules applies to them and another to everyone else. We need to restore the idea of government of, by, and for the people.”
Later that day, he criticized local leadership in Los Angeles, writing: “LA has everything to offer. Yet the combination of Newsom and Bass has made it unlivable. This is the cost of awful political leadership.” This post refers to Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
On April 16, 2026, Kiley addressed a recent decision by the California Coastal Commission regarding Independence Day celebrations: “The latest absurdity from the CA Coastal Commission: no fireworks on the Fourth of July. I’ve introduced legislation to rein in this runaway agency.”
Kiley replaced John Garamendi as representative for California’s 3rd district in 2023 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985, Kiley resides in Rocklin and holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
