Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district, has recently shared his views on several pressing issues via social media. Known for his previous tenure in the California State Assembly and educational background from Harvard and Yale, Kiley provides commentary on political matters affecting both California and the nation.
On July 4, 2025, Kiley commented on the financial activities of CHIRLA, an organization he described as a “nonprofit” behind recent LA riots. He stated that “The CHIRLA ‘nonprofit’ behind the LA riots received $34 million. It is effectively a government subsidiary.” He further expressed concern about NGOs receiving substantial funding to promote causes leading to crime and suggested that this funding might be directly supporting criminal activities.
The following day, July 5, 2025, Kiley addressed fire management under current leadership by stating that “Hundreds of fires started on federal land during the Biden Administration. Newsom never once called it land ‘Biden manages.'” He criticized Governor Newsom for allegedly reducing fire prevention funds by $150 million and exaggerating treated acres by “an astounding 690%.” His comments concluded with skepticism regarding attributing these issues solely to former President Trump.
On July 6, 2025, Kiley provided his perspective on California’s governance model under Governor Newsom by asserting that “Newsom’s California is not a ‘model for the nation.’ It is a warning to the nation.”
Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and resides in Rocklin after being born in Sacramento.
