Kevin Kiley, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has expressed his views on recent political developments in California through a series of tweets. Born in Sacramento and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale University. His tweets provide insight into his stance on Governor Gavin Newsom’s policies.
On May 14, 2025, Kevin Kiley shared a tweet referencing a new Berkeley/IGS poll indicating that Governor Newsom’s approval rating is “underwater” in California. He further noted that Newsom is “even less popular than Kamala Harris,” suggesting this could negatively impact Newsom’s potential aspirations for the 2028 elections.
Later that day, Kiley commented on another development involving Governor Newsom. In a tweet, he stated that due to pressure, Newsom decided to freeze his policy of providing free Medicaid for illegal immigrants by halting new adult enrollees. However, Kiley emphasized that this action was insufficient and pledged to work towards reversing what he termed as “Newsom’s reckless policy.”
In another tweet posted on the same day, Kiley criticized Governor Newsom’s decision to more than double state funding for High-Speed Rail. He described this move as “the absolute definition of insanity,” underscoring his opposition to the increase in funding for this project.
Kevin Kiley has been active in politics since serving in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022 before taking office in Congress.
