Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has taken to social media to express his views on several issues affecting the state of California. A former member of the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022, Kiley’s educational background includes degrees from Harvard University and Yale University.

On March 24, 2025, Kevin Kiley criticized the California Coastal Commission in a tweet stating: “The CA Coastal Commission is completely out-of-control. My bill to rein it in has even brought together President Trump and Gavin Newsom.” This post highlights his legislative efforts aimed at addressing what he perceives as an overreach by the commission.

On March 25, 2025, Kiley addressed financial concerns regarding Medicaid in California. He tweeted: “Gavin Newsom is literally bankrupting Medicaid in California. The annual cost of benefits for illegal immigrants has tripled to $9.5 billion, forcing Newsom to take out an emergency loan to cover this month’s payments. This is one of the biggest scandals in state history.” His statement suggests significant fiscal challenges faced by the state’s healthcare system under Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration.

Later on March 25, Kiley commented on political dynamics within California: “Half of California voters now say they’d vote for a Republican Governor. Nearly 70 percent already voted to pass Prop. 36 and make crime illegal again. One million new GOP voters have registered since Newsom took office. A coalition for common sense is ascendent in California.” This tweet underscores shifting voter sentiments and increasing support for Republican governance within the state.
