Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently used social media to highlight his concerns about issues facing California and national immigration policy. Kiley, who previously served in the California State Assembly and holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School, posted a series of statements on X addressing topics ranging from state rankings in key socioeconomic indicators to federal and local responses to immigration.
On July 11, 2025, Kiley published a post listing several challenges he attributes to California’s standing among states: “How about this list:
-homelessness (1 out of 50)
-poverty (1 out of 50)
-Retail crime (1 out of 50)
-gas prices (1 out of 50)
-illiteracy (1 out of 50)
-wage stagnation (1 out of 50)
-frivolous lawsuits (1 out of 50)
-unemployment (3 out of 50)
-housing costs (2 out of 50)”. The post references the state’s ranking as first or near the top in these categories.
On July 12, 2025, Kiley commented on Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s decision to distribute cash cards to undocumented immigrants affected by ICE operations. He wrote: “Karen Bass is now giving cash cards to illegal immigrants ‘affected’ by ICE. To get one, you just have to say you’re too afraid to go to work.
To hand out the cash she’s chosen CHIRLA – the same ‘nonprofit’ that instigated the riots after getting $34 million in public funds.”.
In another post dated July 13, 2025, Kiley addressed federal immigration policy under President Biden and actions by Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Bass regarding unaccompanied minors at the border: “Biden let 550,000 unaccompanied minors into the country, losing track of most of them and placing others with dangerous sponsors. Child trafficking and forced labor resulted.
Now, Newsom and Bass are trying to stop ICE from rescuing these children.”.
Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. He succeeded John Garamendi as representative for California’s third congressional district.
