Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023 and a former member of the California State Assembly, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing issues related to state governance, economic rankings, and public transparency.
On September 7, 2025, Kiley referenced a previous redistricting controversy in California, stating: “The last time politicians were in charge of a major redistricting in California, four LA Democrats were caught on tape using racial slurs – including against a 2 year old boy – as they plotted to deprive black residents of representation. This is what Newsom wants to bring back.”
Continuing his critique of the state’s performance on various metrics, Kiley wrote on September 8, 2025: “Unfortunately, we aren’t even top 10 for any of those per capita. Here’s where we really are #1:
#1 for homelessness
#1 for unemployment
#1 for poverty
#1 for gas prices
#1 for wage stagnation
#1 for illiteracy
#1 for retail crime
#1 for outmigration”
Later that same day, he addressed concerns about financial transparency regarding charitable funds: “We’ve just received the requested documents from FireAid as to where the money from the $100 million concert went. We are reviewing the materials and will make them publicly available shortly.”
Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously represented constituents in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School.
