Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared several updates on social media regarding legislative matters and state developments. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale University.
On May 18, 2025, Kiley announced that “Next week, the Senate is expected to vote on my Resolution to reverse Newsom’s gas-car ban.” He noted that the resolution had already passed the House with bipartisan support and suggested that after President Trump’s signature, “the ban will be history.”
The following day, May 19, he reported two significant developments: “1. High-Speed Rail’s initial Bakersfield-Merced line will cost $3.2 billion more,” bringing the total to $38.5 billion. Additionally, he mentioned new regulations by CARB that could increase gas prices by 50 cents per gallon.
On May 20, Kiley confirmed the upcoming Senate vote on his resolution to reverse Governor Newsom’s gas-car ban: “The House already passed it with overwhelming bipartisan support.”
Kevin Kiley has been an active voice in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023. Prior to his current role, he served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022.
