Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district and a former member of the California State Assembly, used his social media platform to voice opposition to Proposition 50 ahead of the vote on November 4 and 5, 2025.

On November 4, Kiley criticized the proposition by stating, “The biggest lie about Prop. 50 is that it is ‘temporary.’ There is no such thing as politicians temporarily increasing their own power. The legislative leaders who drew themselves seats in Congress aren’t going to suddenly give them back after a few years.”

Later that day, he urged voters to participate in the election and provided his perspective on the implications of voting for or against the measure: “Polls close in 6 hours. Please remember to vote! A quick recap:

Voting Yes sidelines the Citizens Redistricting Commission and adopts one of the worst gerrymanders in U.S. history.

Voting NO keeps the Commission’s map and maintains constitutional protections for fair districts.” This message was posted on November 4, 2025.

On November 5, Kiley reiterated his position with another reminder: “There is still time to vote NO on Prop. 50. California is worth fighting for.”

Kiley has served in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in California’s 3rd district in 2023 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985, he currently resides in Rocklin. Kiley graduated from Harvard University with a BA and earned a JD from Yale University.
