Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district since 2023 and former member of the California State Assembly, used his social media platform on October 13, 2025, to voice opposition to Proposition 50 and criticize state leadership.
In a post published at 00:58 UTC on October 13, Kiley stated, “If you believe gerrymandering is wrong, vote NO on 50. If you believe politicians should be bound by the Constitution, vote NO on 50. If you believe in protecting voters’ rights, vote NO on 50. If you believe voters should choose their representatives – not the other way”.
Later that day, at 15:29 UTC, Kiley referenced actions taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed concern about legislative inactivity. He wrote, “When Newsom shut down our Legislature during COVID, I fought back to protect representative government. I also won’t stand by as the U.S. House of Representatives becomes irrelevant. We’ve been out of session nearly a month and 70 of the last 82 days.”
At 18:28 UTC on October 13, Kiley commented on state governance by posting, “Newsom’s California is not a ‘model for the nation.’ It is a warning to the nation.”
Kevin Kiley was born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently resides in Rocklin. He holds degrees from Harvard University and Yale Law School. Prior to his tenure in Congress beginning in 2023, he served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022.
