Rep. Kevin Kiley, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 3rd district, posted a series of tweets in July 2025 addressing Los Angeles’ distribution of cash cards to undocumented immigrants and criticizing the nonprofit CHIRLA, as well as commenting on developments with California High-Speed Rail.
On July 14, 2025, Kiley wrote: “Los Angeles is giving cash cards to illegal immigrants ‘affected’ by ICE. To hand out the cash they’ve chosen CHIRLA – the same ‘nonprofit’ that instigated the riots after getting $34 million in public funds.”
The following day, on July 15, 2025, he added: “We’ve learned the criminals who used tire spikes on Border Patrol vehicles carried them in bags with the CHIRLA logo. CHIRLA is the ‘nonprofit’ that got $34 million in public funding then instigated the LA riots. My bill, the No Tax Dollars for Riots Act, will end this funding.”
On July 16, 2025, Kiley turned his attention to state infrastructure projects: “We’ve finally brought accountability to CA High-Speed Rail. The state woefully failed its ‘compliance review’ and stands to lose billions in funding. No track has been laid in 17 years, and the Rail Authority admits it will miss the 2033 deadline for a Bakersfield-Merced line.”
Kevin Kiley has represented California’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing John Garamendi in 2023 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Born in Sacramento in 1985 and currently residing in Rocklin, Kiley holds degrees from Harvard University (BA) and Yale University (JD).
