Senator Roger Niello, a member of the California State Senate, recently posted a series of tweets providing information about the application deadline and opportunities associated with the 2026-2027 Capital Fellows Program.

On December 3, 2025, Senator Niello announced: “The deadline to apply for the 2026-2027 @CapFellowsCSUS cohort is December 8‚ 2025. I have had the honor of hosting two Senate Fellows in my office over the last few years‚ and mentoring the young leaders in the legislature has been a very rewarding experience. #CaLeg 1/3”

He continued his remarks by highlighting the nature of the fellowship: “Rooted in experiential learning and public service‚ Senate Fellows spend 11 months as part of a cohort working in the Capitol office of a California State Senator. College seniors and recent graduates are eligible to apply at https://t.co/JI4Fg53eXb. 2/3” The program provides participants with hands-on experience in state government and public policy.

In his final tweet from December 3, 2025, Niello provided an additional resource for prospective applicants: “You can watch the recorded Capital Fellows Virtual Information Session at https://t.co/Yi6DAIKIgj. 3/3”

The Capital Fellows Programs are administered by Sacramento State’s Center for California Studies in partnership with various branches of California’s government. These fellowships have historically provided opportunities for early-career professionals to gain practical legislative experience by working directly within state offices.
