TART extends evening bus service and adds new summer shuttles in North Lake Tahoe

Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit announced on April 6 that it is extending its evening bus service hours from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with some routes running until 11 p.m. The updated schedule, which starts immediately, aims to meet the increased demand from seasonal ridership in areas such as Olympic Valley, Tahoe City, Crystal Bay, and Northstar. This spring schedule will continue through June 30 before transitioning to the summer timetable.

The extension of evening service is designed to offer more transportation options for both residents and visitors in North Lake Tahoe. The region continues to benefit from TART Connect micro-transit services at night between zones.

“As we get warmer temperatures in North Lake Tahoe, we adjust our spring schedule to add more night service and make more accommodations for folks in the evenings,” said Placer County’s Transit Manager Jaime Wright. “Residents and visitors can still ride TART Connect between zones in the evening, but will now have more options.”

This year also brings new summer shuttle services aimed at supporting popular events in Tahoe City and building on successful winter programs. These shuttles are funded by TOT-TBID Dollars at Work and managed by several local organizations including the Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association, Tahoe City Downtown Association, and Palisades Tahoe. Two free shuttle lines will provide access: one serving Olympic Valley with stops at Palisades Tahoe parking lot, Everline Resort & Spa, River Ranch Lodge & Restaurant, and TART Olympic Valley locations; another covering West Shore destinations such as Granlibakken Resort & Lodge, Sunnyside restaurant & lodge, Homewood Mountain Resort parking lot A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H/I/J/K/L/M/N/O/P/Q/R/S/T/U/V/W/X/Y/Z/AA/BB/CC/DD/EE/FF/GG/HH/II/JJ/KK/,and Tahoma.

The expanded shuttle program is funded through April 9 of next year. Additionally, a winter commuter survey is being conducted by the Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association to gather feedback on travel needs and improve alternative transportation options. Participants have a chance to win a $100 Safeway gift card.

Placer County says it remains committed to investing in transportation solutions that support both community mobility needs and environmental goals.
