Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 3rd district, has been vocal on various state issues through his social media platform. In recent tweets, Kiley addresses topics ranging from Medicaid funding to law enforcement grants and the actions of the California Coastal Commission.
On March 13, 2025, Kevin Kiley expressed concerns regarding Governor Gavin Newsom's policies on Medicaid in California. He stated that "Gavin Newsom is literally bankrupting Medicaid in California by giving unlimited benefits to everyone who comes here illegally." He claimed this information was confirmed by the Governor's own Department of Finance.
The following day, March 14, 2025, Kiley proposed an alternative approach to distributing law enforcement grants in California. He suggested that "We are asking Attorney General Bondi to bypass Newsom and give law enforcement grants directly to California cities and counties that are not sanctuary jurisdictions." Kiley argued that this would effectively make Governor Newsom's influence irrelevant.
On March 15, 2025, Kiley criticized the response of the California Coastal Commission to his legislative efforts. He noted that "The arrogance of the CA Coastal Commission knows no bounds." According to Kiley, the commission dismissed his bill as unrelated to their work; however, he contended that it was specifically aimed at controlling what he described as an "out-of-control agency."
