Rep. Kiley recognized the 62 local high school artists who submitted artwork for consideration in this year’s Congressional Art Competition and announced Olivia Foster from Roseville as this year’s winner! Her piece “Priceless” will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year. The runner ups included “Ride to Freedom” by Olivia Spamer and “Untouched Elegance” by Natalie Ang.
The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide competition in which high school students can submit a piece of art to their congressman. One winner is selected by each of the 435 Members of Congress in the nation, and the winner’s art is displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year. This past Saturday, Rep. Kiley recognized the 62 students who submitted artwork at this reception and announced the first, second, and third place winners for CA-03 (encompassing Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Yuba, Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento, Alpine, Mono, and Inyo counties). The artwork was judged by a panel convened by Rep. Kiley’s Office and the judges included Grass Valley Mayor Jan Arbuckle, along with art professors from local colleges. The reception/event was held at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, CA.
