Kevin Kiley, a Congressional representative for California’s 3rd district since 2023 and formerly a member of the California State Assembly, expressed his views in a series of tweets. In these tweets, he criticized California's policies and highlighted recent legislative actions.

On March 28, 2025, Kiley tweeted about Governor Gavin Newsom's description of California as a leader, noting that, "Newsom is right that California 'leads the nation.' He's just hoping no one asks what we lead the nation in." Kiley enumerated several negative areas he believes California leads, including "homelessness, poverty, unemployment, gas prices, taxes, regulations, illiteracy, inequality, electricity & water bills, fraud & crime, illegal immigration."

On March 29, 2025, Kiley discussed foreign influence in American higher education. In his words, "China and other foreign adversaries massively fund our universities. They don't do this out of charity. The goal is to infiltrate higher education, weaken American values, and sow chaos." He stated that the DETERRENT Act was passed to combat this potential threat.

On the following day, March 30, 2025, Kiley addressed financial policies related to healthcare in California. He claimed, "California is paying much more to provide Medicaid for illegal immigrants than for legal residents. That's because there's no federal match and rebates on prescription drugs are smaller." Kiley highlighted that California is the only state implementing this policy.
