Kevin Kiley, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 3rd district, recently expressed his views on the state's wildfire management and governance through a series of tweets. Known for his previous service in the California State Assembly, Kiley has been vocal about issues related to state leadership and fiscal policies.
On January 23, 2025, Kevin Kiley commented on California's approach to wildfire risk reduction. He stated, "The science is very clear about how to reduce the risk of wildfires, and California has done the exact opposite."
Later that day, he criticized a decision made by the California Supermajority regarding fire prevention funding. According to Kiley, "Today the CA Supermajority voted down a Republican proposal to allocate $1 billion for fire prevention." He further noted that "Newsom has repeatedly slashed the fire budget, even as he increased overall spending by $120 billion for priorities like High-Speed Rail and Medi-Cal for illegal immigrants."
On January 24, 2025, Kiley voiced strong disapproval of Governor Gavin Newsom's performance. He tweeted that "Gavin Newsom is the worst governor in America, by far. He had the lowest approval rating even before the LA fires put his incompetence on shocking display to the world." He added that "Fighting for the people of California means fighting against their inept political leadership."
