Kevin Kiley, a member of the U.S. Congress since 2023 representing California's 3rd district, expressed concerns about California's high gas prices and educational issues via a series of tweets. Kiley, who was born in Sacramento and currently resides in Rocklin, has highlighted issues related to state policies. He previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022. A Harvard and Yale graduate, Kiley has become a vocal critic of the state's current administration.

On April 18, 2025, Kiley commented on the recent actions affecting gas prices in California. Noting that California already has the highest gas prices in the nation, "California already has the highest gas prices in the nation by far. 34 cents higher than second-place Hawaii.", he remarked that two refineries closing due to energy policies would exacerbate the situation.

In another tweet on the same day, Kiley discussed the perceived decline in the quality of education in California. According to Kiley, California residents overwhelmingly find that schools have worsened. "By a staggering six-to-one margin, Californians believe our schools have gotten worse in recent years." He criticized Governor Gavin Newsom's performance, stating, "Gavin Newsom might be the worst education governor in American history."

Later that day, Kiley criticized the state for its economic situation, suggesting that Governor Newsom scrutinize his own policies with regards to costs affecting Californians. "If Newsom is so concerned about costs for Californians, he should look at his own policies." Kiley emphasized issues related to high taxes, strict regulations, and energy costs, attributing these to the state's leadership in poverty, unemployment, and wage stagnation.

Adding context to Kiley’s critiques, it's noteworthy that he serves the 3rd district of California and holds a BA from Harvard University and a JD from Yale University. Kiley succeeded John Garamendi in 2023.
