Kevin Kiley, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 3rd district since 2023, has expressed strong opinions on several issues via social media. Kiley, who succeeded John Garamendi and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2022, is known for his direct communication style.
On January 31, 2025, Kevin Kiley voiced concerns about cities not taking action against homeless encampments despite a Supreme Court ruling that allows them to do so. He stated: "This is absolutely unacceptable. Our victory at the Supreme Court last year enabled cities to clear homeless encampments. Those that refuse to do so are willfully putting their residents at risk."
Later the same day, Kiley criticized Governor Gavin Newsom's policies in another tweet: "What a novel idea. I've been telling Newsom to do this for years, as has anyone with a modicum of common sense. Yet he's done exactly the opposite."
On February 1, 2025, Kiley addressed the state of American education systems as the new Chair of the House Subcommittee on Education: "The continuing decline of America's schools is alarming. As the new Chair of the House Subcommittee on Education, I'm working to return funding directly to states – or in the case of California, to regions/districts so Newsom never gets his hands on it."
